important events
34 minutes: Silva comes flowing in from the right. He also has a center option, but chose to look for his top left corner instead. I’ll just say that the curler he attempted was better than the penalty earlier this week and leave it at that.
32 minutes: Akanji and Ake attempted to send the ball in from the aforementioned corner kick, but the ball drifted out of play inside the left flank. Petrovic then took his time on the restart, making City uncomfortable. The referee will be informed.
31 minutes: Cucurella targeted Jackson in the middle, but his low cross couldn’t get past Ortega. City then moved up the other flank and Grealish and De Bruyne combined on the left to win a corner. It’s a lot of fun, and I’m sure the finish line will come from somewhere soon.
29 minutes: Jackson is run down the middle of the park by Fernandez. He runs away from his own half and is onside. The entire store is a city! The exception is Ortega and Stones, who combine to push the striker wide to the left as he attempts to slot past the keeper. With Stones in front of him, Jackson didn’t have the confidence to shoot from a narrow angle and checked back. The chance is gone.
27 minutes: Alvarez swings through the city corner from the left. Cucurella is clear. City hit back again and Grealish rounds in from the same side. Foden tries for a header but it goes wide. Alvarez came up behind from the right side and hooked towards the goal. The cucurella hook is clear. Foden was then flagged for offside as he clearly became aggressive as he went for the ball. But the city is getting closer and closer.
26 minutes: Fernandes clips Rodri from behind. Like De Bruyne before him, he got away without a yellow. Both teams now have one.
24 minutes: Chelsea are giving as good as they get. Madueke fires Gusto into the bottom right space. A low cross is blocked and the offside flag is raised. Great round trip so far.
22 minutes: City are starting to create chances. Grealish cuts in from the left and aims for Alvarez in the middle. Alvarez was at the penalty spot and had no control. Chelsea then tried to counterattack, but Jackson and Fernandes disrupted their rhythm in the center of the park. Their fans howl in helpless frustration.
20 min: Alvarez sliced through the inside left channel, flipping poor Charova inside out like a freshly washed sock. His shot hits De Bruyne, deflects it and goes wide for a corner… then the offside flag goes up.
19 minutes: Caicedo shuts down Ake and holds a classic block challenge that is tough but fair. It was a gathering speed of 161 mph. His 1980s vintage ones in particular are so fun to look at, but he doesn’t want to miss out on another vintage one.
17 minutes: De Bruyne slips awkwardly into Maduke in the air from behind. This is a clear trip and should have given him a yellow card, especially since this is not his first foul, but the referee seems intent on keeping his card in his pocket from the start. Officials in semi-final mode.
15 minutes: De Bruyne fired a hell of a thread into the inside right channel, sending Foden into the box. Foden rounds Petrovic on the outside but it’s too wide for the keeper to slot him in. Foden dips into the middle and Cucurella heads clear from the six-yard box. City still went for a corner, but De Bruyne squandered it by giving Petrovic a look and trying to surprise him at his near post. wide.
13 minutes: Walker slipped while attempting to chest down a poor pass from Grealish, allowing Gallagher to steal the ball to his left. The City captain is lucky that his team-mates are keeping up their form. The ball moved to the right, where Gusto won a corner kick for Chelsea.
11 minutes: Palmer attempts a lob to Ortega from the center circle. Full marks, at least in terms of ambition.
10 minutes: This gave City their first corner with a goal from De Bruyne on the left. Alvarez takes a short shot and exchanges passes with De Bruyne before taking a long shot. Rodri floats up with the first stick, but all he can do is head straight at Petrovic from an angle. This semi-final got off to a strong start end to end.
9 minutes: Chelsea looked dangerous every time they gained possession and moved forward, with Madueke forcing in the first corner of the game. Gallagher sends in from the right. Silva was unable to get a clean header and Grealish’s boot cleared.
7 minutes: Jackson darts into space on the right and appears to be tipped over from behind by Ake. But the referee doesn’t think so and play continues. Chelsea immediately hit back, as Gallagher stole the ball from Walker and laid off to Palmer, who fired Jackson into the inside left channel. Jackson shoots from the edge of the box. It’s a fierce attack, but it challenges Ortega head on.
6 minutes: It’s like breaking news, with City dominating possession. “I think Chelsea will want to take this to a penalty shootout just to show they can take the game in an orderly manner,” Peter O wrote. “My sources say the coaching staff is frantically reviewing the list of acquisitions (‘Jackson, Madueke, Jackson, Madueke, Palmer’). ”
4 minutes: Silva finds himself in an awkward situation after being given an unwanted pass by Petrovic. He almost swarmed the sky blue shirt, but it did enough to keep his ball out of danger again. Chelsea lives a dangerous life.
3 minutes: Palmer’s legs are already bound, but he is unable to move freely because they were accidentally clipped by the Stones. I hope he can shake off that impact for Chelsea.
2 minutes: …But here they are almost outplayed, with Cucurella making a careless backpass that almost puts Alvarez in. Silva slipped in and averted disaster.
1 minute: Space for cucurella at the bottom left. He aims for Maduke in the middle but the cross is too long. The City was briefly exposed there. If the ball had been better, the championship contenders would have been in a lot of trouble.
City get the ball rolling. There’s a great atmosphere at Wembley.
I didn’t talk to Mauricio Pochettino before the game, but it doesn’t matter because the team is here! They appeared with a roar, and Cole Palmer caught up with all his old comrades in the tunnel. All interactions were very friendly. City are Sky and Chelsea are Royal. I’m leaving soon!
The BBC asked Josep Guardiola if his team was ready to bounce back from the disappointment of defeat in the Champions League. “The team is not disappointed…We are never disappointed when the team plays well…We don’t have to feel sorry or ashamed of the way we did it.” [we] Perform… It’s football, it’s life… We’re in the semi-finals against a historic team like Chelsea, so of course we have to perform well… Win or lose against Madrid, we’re still the same will do something… [Erling Haaland] I’m injured… It’s not a big deal, but I can’t play today. ”
All patterns before the match. Also includes news about Enzo Fernandez having hernia issues and Cole Palmer’s arrival this season.
Big news for Manchester City: Erling Haaland out injured. Julián Alvarez is up front. There were three other changes to the starting lineup following Wednesday’s departure from Real Madrid in the Champions League. Ederson, Ruben Dias and Hoshko Gvardiol were replaced by Stefan Ortega, John Stones and Nathan Ake, all of whom ended up on the bench.
Chelsea made just one change to the squad that started with a 6-0 win over Everton on Monday night. Enzo Fernandes was introduced in place of Mykhailo Mudryk, who was placed on the bench. Nicholas Jackson and Noni Madueke remain Mauricio Pochettino’s one-for-all, all-for-one penalty-taking group.
