Hello and welcome to live, minute-by-minute coverage of Manchester City v Everton in the WSL. City’s surprise win at Chelsea a fortnight ago means they are neck-and-neck with the champions going into the penultimate lap of the title race. Both have eight games remaining, four either side of a Nations League break in April, and both know they can’t really afford to give away cheap points between now and 19 May.

City have given the square root of bugger all away during a run of 11 straight wins in all competitions, including a 4-1 evisceration of Everton in November, and victory today would put them top of the WSL for at least 24 hours. After a couple of seasons on the outside looking in, City are serious contenders again.

important events

This is a really interesting work by Faye Carruthers About hosting the Women’s Football Weekly podcast.

After a rum and coke myself (I promise, OK, another one on the way), Susie and regular panelist Ceylon Andy Hickman reluctantly leave the Box Park party and meet Guardian reporter Jonathan at their hotel. I met Ryu. Lucy and Chessie, the producers, set up a “cozy” room with microphones, Ceylon and I shared a desk, and Susie and Johnny lay in a funny way with pillows propped up on either side of the double bed. We had beer, sweets, chips, and best of all, mini baby bells. What happened next was her hour of hilarity, pure joy, and utter chaos. The four friends reminisced about the epic finals and tournaments with a wide range of friends they had never met but whose presence was felt every step of the way during those five crazy weeks.
