19 minutes: Great save from Onana! This is great entertainment. De Bruyne sent Foden clean through on goal with a simple pass, at least to Foden. Foden ran to the edge of the area and fired a shot with his right foot, but it was blocked by Onana, who spread his arms in a Schmeichel pose. We haven’t seen the replay, but at first glance it looked like a good save, not a terrible mistake.
17 min: A chance for United! Bernardo Silva’s shot on the turn was blocked by Varane. United broke and Fernandes forced Dias’ slip into goal for Rashford, but he left the ball behind and Walker cleared it.
It doesn’t show up in xG, but it was a great opportunity. It wasn’t an awkward flick, just a lazy header from Rashford. Look, he’s too relaxed!
15 minutes: Good save by Onana! The city’s response was as expected. Bernardo Silva crossed the area and passed the ball to Foden, whose right-footed shot was deflected away by Onana. For Foden, this was not the easiest chance as he had to wrap his leg around the ball during the run.
14 minutes It was a very clean blow, delivered with beautiful technique by Rashford. It was as if they were training to see who could make the purest contact. What I’m trying to say is that there was no tension at all, it was a very relaxed blow.
12 minutes Ake throws a cheap corner kick, and Ederson punches back a little awkwardly. The city was in temporary chaos.
The goal has been decided! Almost offside, but played by Ake on the far side, Fernandes ran into Onana’s long goal kick and shielded the ball from Diaz on the edge of the area. He turned and passed the ball back to Rashford, who ran onto the ball from deep and fired a sloppy first-time shot from 25 yards.
