Gina Carano Settles Lawsuit with Disney
Actress and former mixed martial artist Gina Carano has expressed her faith in God after reaching a significant settlement with Disney regarding her firing from “The Mandalorian” in 2021. Last week, she shared on social media that she feels this settlement is “the best result for all involved.”
“I hope this will bring some healing to the strength,” she added.
Carano also supported billionaire Elon Musk’s legal efforts, thanking him and stating that she expects nothing in return. She highlighted her gratitude, saying, “I am humble and grateful to God for his love and grace in this outcome.”
“I’m excited to flip the page and move on to the next chapter. My desires hope you join me,” she concluded.
Carano, who was let go by Disney for voicing conservative opinions online, had filed a lawsuit against the company and Lucasfilm in 2024 seeking punitive damages. Additionally, she lost representation from her casting agency, UTA.
Disney had initially sought to dismiss the lawsuit by asserting its right to distance itself from Carano and her viewpoints. However, she contended that Disney’s actions suggested her views were grounds for dismissal.
I have reached an agreement with Disney/Lucasfilm. I think this is the best result for all involved. I hope this will bring some healing to the strength. I want to extend my deepest sincere gratitude to Elon Musk, a man I’ve never met.
After the settlement, Disney released a statement reaffirming that Carano is respected by her director, co-stars, and staff, indicating a willingness to work with her again soon.
“The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm have announced that they have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issue of pending litigation against the company,” the statement read. “Carano has always been well respected by the director, co-stars and staff, and worked hard to complete the craft, treating her colleagues with kindness and respect.”
