Manhattan DA's Office Looking Into Swalwell Regarding Sexual Assault Allegations

Investigation Launched into Rep. Eric Swalwell Over Sexual Assault Claims

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is looking into allegations against Representative Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) concerning sexual assault involving multiple women, as reported.

In a statement, the DA’s office urged “survivors and anyone with knowledge of these allegations” to reach out to the Special Victims Unit.

“Individuals with information are encouraged to contact the Special Victims Unit at 212-335-9373,” the statement said. “Our trained team is prepared to help in a way that prioritizes survivor needs.”

The prosecutor’s office’s announcement followed claims from a former staffer of Swalwell. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that a California lawmaker, who is pursuing a gubernatorial run, has accused Swalwell of sexually assaulting her on two occasions.

She recounted an incident in which Swalwell, 45, who is married and significantly older, attempted to kiss her while she was driving him home from a donor gathering. On another occasion, she claimed that during a car ride to an event, Swalwell exposed himself and made a request for oral sex, which she said occurred in a parking lot.

The woman also mentioned a night in September 2019 when she went out with Swalwell for drinks. After heavy drinking, she woke up naked in Swalwell’s hotel bed, feeling that intercourse had taken place. Following that incident, she noted that Swalwell emotionally distanced himself.

Fast forward five years, she attended a gala in April 2024 to honor Swalwell. Although no longer part of his staff, she and Swalwell went for drinks afterward, but she got extremely drunk and recalled very little, except for firmly rejecting his advances.

She also stated in an April 2024 trial that she “pushed him away” and insisted “no,” but apparently, Swalwell persisted, according to reports. Additionally, she previously told the outlet that she “awoke naked” in Swalwell’s hotel room after a night of heavy drinking in 2019.

Three other women have also shared their own experiences with allegations of various sexual misconduct by Swalwell.

In a post on X, Swalwell published a video labeling the allegations as “completely false.”

“These allegations didn’t happen. They never happened. I intend to fight them vigorously,” Swalwell asserted.

In the aftermath of these sexual assault claims, several Democratic figures, including Senators Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), along with Representatives Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) and Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.), have withdrawn their support for Swalwell’s gubernatorial campaign and urged him to suspend his candidacy.
