Manifesto of IVF bombing suspect was ‘against life’

Investigators have concluded that the explosion at a fertility clinic in Southern California was a terrorist act. They found writings from the suspect that reflect an “anti-living” ideology.

Identified as 25-year-old Bertos, he was the sole casualty in the attack that occurred on Saturday.

His motives appear to be connected to a somewhat obscure movement against childbirth. This movement advocates for an anti-living stance, which is quite alarming.

In the aftermath of the bombing in Palm Springs, California, officials discovered an online manifesto believed to belong to Bertos.

Although the fertility clinic sustained significant damage and had to close, the operators have assured that all embryos and reproductive materials were unharmed.

In the manifesto, the author expresses intense frustration with existence, stating phrases like, “I’m mad at the existence” and questions the consent for life.

Bertos conveyed his ultimate aim: “to sterilize this planet of illness in life.”

The body thought to be Bertos was located next to a vehicle tied to the explosion.

In a candid interview with a local affiliate, the suspect’s estranged father described him as bright yet troubled, sharing memories of his son’s childhood involving risky behavior. It’s unsettling—he recalled an incident where Bertos, at just nine years old, set fire to their family shed.

His father reflected, “He was trying to push it under the shed. It’s been over a decade since we last spoke.”

A national security expert remarked that Bertos’ philosophy represents one of the most peculiar forms of domestic terrorism they have encountered. Bertos reportedly perceived himself as a motorist, adhering to a fringe belief that desires immediate death to circumvent further suffering.

While nihilists or anti-natalists generally see childbirth as unethical and life as devoid of meaning, it’s worth noting that the vast majority don’t support or endorse violence.

Meanwhile, Guy Bartkus, a resident living about an hour from the clinic, noted the chilling nature of the incident. Investigators continue their efforts to uncover more evidence and trace Bertos’ digital footprint.
