Manufacturer in Turkey invests $34 million in South Carolina facility

Mega Metal Invests in South Carolina Manufacturing

Carrier Global’s CEO, David Gitlin, recently discussed the company’s significant $1 billion investment in U.S. manufacturing and broader economic expectations leading up to 2025.

This past Tuesday, the copper wire manufacturer announced plans to invest $34 million in South Carolina, aiming to set up a new 91,000-square-foot facility in Fairfield County to produce Super Fine Electrolytic Oxygen Free (EOF) copper wire.

Mega Metal, which employs over 700 workers and exports to more than 30 countries, expects this project to create 135 new jobs.

Once fully operational, the facility is projected to yield approximately £55 million worth of wire annually.

“This investment in Fairfield County is not only a significant manufacturing achievement but also underscores our long-term commitment to the North American market,” remarked Cuneyt Turgut, chairman of Mega Metal Inc. “We are excited to contribute to South Carolina’s growth and support the local economy, aiming for industrial excellence.”

He further emphasized that this investment positions Mega Metal as a crucial player in the U.S. supply chain, ready to support high-demand sectors across the continent.

The facility is anticipated to start operations by September, bringing new opportunities and economic boosts to Fairfield County, according to South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster. He expressed confidence in Mega Metal’s fit for the state’s strong workforce.

Interestingly, this will mark Mega Metal’s first venture in South Carolina. Meanwhile, the Coordination Council for Economic Development has approved employment development credits linked to this initiative.
