Many Americans in new survey say Biden more personable than Trump, but not stronger

A poll released Wednesday found that Americans generally tend to view President Biden as more personable and kinder than former President Trump, but most also see the former president as stronger and tougher.

Respondents said Biden is more likely than Trump to help strangers (Biden 46%, Trump 30%), give better relationship advice (Biden 44%, Trump 21%), return a lost wallet (Biden 43%, Trump 27%) and be a better babysitter (Biden 38%, Trump 27%).

While the president continues to hone his soft skills, respondents tended to trust Trump more in the competitive realm.

According to the survey, voters said Trump is better at arm wrestling (Trump 52%, Biden 14%), playing poker (Trump 46%, Biden 16%) and giving better financial advice (Trump 47%, Biden 31%). Respondents also think Trump would last longer on a desert island (Trump 39%, Biden 24%) and would be more likely to win a quiz game (Trump 37%, Biden 30%).

The presidential election remains tight overall, with Trump leading Biden by 1.2 percentage points in The Hill/Decision Desk average of national polls.

The YouGov poll was conducted among around 1,100 people between May 17 and 20 and has a margin of error of around 4 percentage points.
