Speaking on “The PM Rush” Friday on New York’s 1010 WINS, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) said immigration and the immigration issue, if handled properly and better than they are, could be a positive because “a lot of our cities need workers and they’re losing population.”
In response to a question about which immigration policy — President Joe Biden’s or former President and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s — is a better approach to the immigration issue, Adams said, “I think we need real immigration reform. We need to make sure we monitor activity at the border, and we need a decompression strategy that allows those coming in to also address the needs of the country. A lot of municipalities need workers, and they’re losing population. I think we can turn that into a positive if done properly. … And I think we need to address this issue better.”
Adams also said Republicans had made their position clear by blocking “real, genuine immigration reform” and said he hoped both Trump and Biden would turn their attention to the issue.
