Funeral for Rising Latin Star Maria “Dela Rosa” de la Rosa
Family and friends, over 200 mourners in total, gathered to bid farewell to 22-year-old Latin singer Maria “Dela Rosa” de la Rosa, who tragically lost her life while sitting in her Escalade in Northridge.
The funeral service took place at Mission San Fernando Cemetery Church in Mission Hills, where attendees dressed in black for a Catholic mass held in both English and Spanish. The de la Rosa family was visibly heartbroken throughout the ceremony, mourning the loss of their beloved Maria.
After the mass, family members had a private moment at her casket. Deyanira, Maria’s mother, could be heard in distress, repeatedly crying out, “My baby!” in her native Spanish.
Just prior to the public service, Deyanira received a call from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, informing her that no private photographers were permitted on site.
“I really want to capture every moment,” an emotional Deyanira expressed, reflecting on how photography was a big part of her daughter’s life. It was something Maria had valued deeply.
Deyanira’s boyfriend, Tomer Jeddah, chimed in, saying, “I brought my camera. Someone should probably stop me.”
In the end, the family found a way to livestream the service through Deyanira’s Instagram, enabling fans and friends from Colombia to join in the grieving process.
George De La Rosa, Maria’s father, shared his sorrow, unable to take his eyes off the coffin. He described her as someone full of life, always energetic, recalling their morning calls when she would check in if he wanted breakfast. “This just hurts so much,” he said. “It’s as if she was just starting to make her mark.”
The funeral, held on December 2, 2025, featured a white horse-drawn carriage leading the way to her final resting place, where a mariachi band paid homage to the singer. Her family even acquired two plots adjacent to hers to ensure she wouldn’t be alone.
As the coffin was lowered, mourners approached with pink and white floral arrangements, laying them beside her while Deyanira’s anguished cries resonated through the cemetery.
Over the soil that covered her daughter’s coffin, Deyanira lamented, longing to take part in the burial. “I know I could do better than all of them combined,” she sobbed.
