On Thursday afternoon, several U.S. service members at Joint Base Andrews reported feeling unwell after discovering suspicious packages with messages critical of Trump. They experienced headaches and sought medical help, according to U.S. officials.
Air Force representatives noted that the packages expressed negative sentiments towards the president, though specifics were not provided. All seven individuals received assistance promptly, and fortunately, no hazardous materials made it onto the base, as reported.
Joint Base Andrews is known for being home to Air Force One and supports high-level U.S. officials. A senior U.S. official confirmed that there was no disruption to air operation or any effect on Air Force One.
The packages were found in a National Guard building located away from where Air Force One operates. As a safety measure, the building and surrounding areas were evacuated, and a cordon was set up. First responders quickly assessed the situation, determining it was safe to resume normal operations. An investigation is currently ongoing.
Details surrounding the package’s contents and the cause of the physical symptoms remain unclear. The base went on temporary lockdown while emergency personnel worked through the incident.
Medical evaluations were conducted at the Malcolm Groh Medical Center on base for those affected.
Officials are continuing to investigate the origin and nature of the package involved.
