The first day of the 2023 Men’s NCAA Tournament was filled with dramatic finishes, big upsets and new players who will become March Madness heroes before our very eyes. As the tournament progresses into day two, the slate will be loaded with engaging matchups to create more memorable moments.
When the 14th seed Kennesaw State Owls built a double-digit second-half lead over the 3rd seed Xavier, it looked like a big upset to start day two. Instead, the Musketeers made a 15-0 run and surged in the final minutes. Kennesaw State still had a chance to win on the final shot of the game, but Xavier big man Jack Nanji came up with his saving block the game to ensure the win.
The 14th-seeded UC Santa Barbara Gauchos also had an upset in their head when they took a one-point lead at halftime against third-seeded Baylor. Unfortunately for the Gauchos, their attack turned cold in the second half as Baylor fired. Led by guard Adam his flagger and his LJ Cryer, the Bears advance to face the winner of No. 6 Clayton vs. No. 11. north carolina.
