March Madness fume as fan throws water bottle on court at Creighton-Louisville

Fans threw bottles of water into the court during the March 2025 opener on Thursday afternoon, causing a delay in cleanup, infuriating the CBS broadcast crew.

Louisville coach Pat Kelsey was given a technical foul on a team up to 12 against Clayton in under five minutes into the game, then fans spilled enough to have to put a bottle of water on the court and clean it up.

“It was a complete water bottle. It was extremely dangerous and we went straight past Clayton's bench,” said player Brian Anderson. “I tell YA, no one who does that should be allowed to re-enter this arena.

“That's a joke,” Anderson added.

Analyst Jim Jackson called the incident “necessary.”

“You get mad at the phone, so what? You don't do this because you have players on both ends that could be affected by it,” Jackson said.

“It could have done some real damage,” Anderson replied.

No. 9 Clayton scored 89-75.
