Marco Rubio Urges Cubans to Collaborate with CIA for Change
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has recently called on Cubans aspiring for political reform to work discreetly with the CIA. This message came amidst separate comments from President Donald Trump, who mentioned the possibility of sending Rubio to Cuba to negotiate a deal.
In a post on social media platform X, Rubio expressed, “To those who seek to create positive change in Cuba – now is the time.” He spoke about the current state of disappointment due to corruption and the privileged lives of a minority, encouraging citizens to seize the moment for change through a quiet alliance with the CIA.
While Rubio’s statement openly suggested Cuban cooperation with the intelligence agency, he did not specify any particular operations or details about what this partnership might entail. It’s a bit vague, really. Rubio, having Cuban immigrant parents himself, has consistently pushed for a more rigorous U.S. stance against the Cuban regime.
He has been particularly vocal against the leadership in Havana, opposing moves to normalize relations unless there are substantial political reforms in place. On a related note, Trump, during a rally in Fort Myers, Florida, floated the idea of U.S. ships making stops near Cuba while discussing Iran. “Don’t worry. We’ll take care of Cuba on our way back from Iran with it,” he reassured the crowd.
Trump elaborated, saying, “Those beautiful ships will pass Cuba. We’ll have one of them stop about 50 yards off the coast. They’ll raise up their hands.” He then speculated that Rubio could be the one to conduct negotiations with the Cuban government.
Nevertheless, Trump did not clarify the specifics of any potential agreement with Cuba, nor did he delve into whether his remarks signified a genuine military or diplomatic initiative.
Various agencies like the CIA, State Department, White House, and the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C., were contacted for comments regarding these developments.
