Rubio Jokes About Pop-Tarts and Kennedy’s Diet

In a recent podcast with Katie Miller, Secretary of State Marco Rubio humorously expressed his fondness for Pop-Tarts while critiquing Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s unconventional diet, which includes “red meat and fermented vegetables.” Rubio, appearing alongside his wife, Janet, found the diet quite ridiculous.

“This is a crazy diet,” he laughed, adding that Kennedy would have to travel with a cooler full of sauerkraut, which he found impractical. “I can’t do that,” he emphasized, further making light of the situation.

Despite his playful comments, Rubio mentioned that he does support Kennedy’s MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) initiative, though his wife seemed to have a different take on their eating habits, insisting on her love for Pop-Tarts.

“No, I don’t eat Pop-Tarts every day,” Rubio claimed defensively before Janet chimed in, “You eat sweets.” He humorously defended the Pop-Tart as a noteworthy American invention, packaged in shiny foil.

Janet retorted, “He eats everything you shouldn’t. Like everything,” creating a light-hearted back-and-forth.

Fox News Digital reached out to both Kennedy’s office and Mars Inc., the maker of Pop-Tarts, for comments but did not receive an immediate response.

Looking ahead, Rubio is viewed as a potential candidate for the 2028 presidential race to succeed President Donald Trump. Recent polling in New Hampshire shows him trailing Vice President J.D. Vance by 10 points in a hypothetical matchup.

In addition to his political aspirations, Rubio has become the subject of various internet memes, most notably one showing Trump in a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Reflecting on the meme culture, he expressed that while he initially disliked a particular viral image of himself, he eventually found humor in it.

“The meme thing was funny because I hated that picture when it first came out,” he remarked, explaining that it looked unflattering at first but later became a part of his public persona.
