Marcus Freeman confirms his dedication to Notre Dame following Mike Tomlin's exit

Marcus Freeman Gaining NFL Attention Amid Coaching Openings

Despite not having given interviews, Marcus Freeman is drawing interest in the NFL coaching circuits. Currently, there are nine head coaching positions available, the latest being with the Pittsburgh Steelers after Mike Tomlin’s resignation on Tuesday.

Freeman’s achievements at Notre Dame have made him a hot topic in the NFL. Yet, he seems content where he is. When asked about the NFL opportunities, he reasserted his commitment to Notre Dame. “I don’t have to make a statement every time these jobs come up. Everything I want and need can be done right here at Notre Dame,” he mentioned to reporters recently.

As the new year approached and speculation increased, Freeman took to social media to affirm his dedication to the Fighting Irish. Earlier in the week, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport noted that Freeman continues to be a significant figure in NFL coaching discussions, alongside other strong candidates like John Harbaugh and Kevin Stefanski.

Freeman became the head coach at Notre Dame in 2021 after Brian Kelly’s departure to LSU. His record last season was impressive, at 43 wins and 12 losses, culminating in a trip to the national championship game.

This year’s College Football Playoff saw the Irish miss out, which stirred some controversy due to the committee’s decision. Freeman, it seems, is focused on the future at Notre Dame. Perhaps, that’s where he truly feels at home.
