Margaret Qualley is embracing a nostalgic early ’80s vibe with her recent appearance.
She features in her friend Sabrina Carpenter’s new music video, “House Tour.” Qualley’s vintage Betsy Johnson dress looks as striking today as it did back in the ’90s.
The mini dress, inspired by lingerie, showcases classic elements from that era: spaghetti straps, a short hemline, a flattering silhouette, and contrasting pink lace accents.
She added a thin pink scarf around her neck, enhancing the playful look.
Qualley, who shares the screen with Carpenter and Madeline Cline, also co-directed the video, which is pretty impressive.
In a nod to early 2000s fashion, she wore the dress over a visible black bra, paired with that skinny pink scarf.
If it seems familiar, that’s because many Gen Z stars, including Maddie Ziegler, Iris Apatow, and Olivia Rodrigo, have been sporting ’90s Betsey Johnson styles lately.
Interestingly, Apatow donned the same dress as Qualley at SXSW in 2024.
According to a press release, Betsey Johnson labeled the dress as “a true Gen Z it-girl fashion piece.”
Carpenter expressed her gratitude in an Instagram post, mentioning her appreciation for her “beautiful and intelligent partner in crime @isimostar” for co-directing the adventurous video.
Qualley commented about having, well, “time” after seeing behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot.
But her involvement goes beyond just acting; she also directed this production alongside Carpenter.
The short film features Cline and has the pair playing high-class thieves. Cline sports a floral poncho over a blue bra and panty set, while Carpenter wears leopard-print hot pants, а blue bra, and a pink bolero, adding a chic embellished beret to her outfit.
Carpenter is set to headline at Coachella in just three days. Her last performance at the festival was in 2024, where she unveiled her now-popular song “Espresso.”
