Margot Robbie Shares Experience with Inappropriate Gift
Margot Robbie recently recounted a surprising moment from her early acting career when a male co-star gifted her a book that suggested she should eat less.
During a conversation with Charli XCX, Robbie described the offensive nature of the gift: “Very early in my career, a male actor I worked with gave me a book called ‘Why French Women Don’t Gain Weight,’ which was essentially a book that encouraged me to eat less.”
Her reaction? “Hey, fuck you, dude,” she recalled, clearly still taken aback by the whole scenario.
At 35, Robbie mentioned that she couldn’t recall what happened to the actor, noting it was quite some time ago. She commented, “He basically gave me a book to let me know that I should lose weight. I thought, ‘Wow.'”
Charlie then humorously added, “Your career is over, baby,” reflecting on the insensitivity of the act.
The book in question, “French Women Don’t Get Fat: The Secret of Eating for Pleasure,” was written by Mireille Guiliano and published in 2007. According to Amazon, it is framed not as a diet manual, but rather as a guide to healthy living and an exploration of modern health and eating.
Robbie has recently been in the spotlight for her stunning looks while promoting her latest film, a Wuthering Heights adaptation, where she stars alongside Jacob Elordi. At the UK premiere, she showcased a remarkable bracelet inspired by the Brontë sisters, a replica of a mourning bracelet originally owned by Charlotte Brontë, signifying the loss of her siblings.
Emily and Anne, Charlotte’s sisters, both passed away just months apart in late 1848 and early 1849, respectively. The bracelet, made from their intertwined hair, adds a deeply personal touch to Robbie’s public appearances.
