Former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson has warned Democrats that ignoring concerns about immigrants eating cats could hurt them electorally.
Residents of Springfield, Ohio, have reported in social media posts that Haitian immigrants are capturing and eating their pets, but local police have said the reports have not been confirmed. The issue has gone viral on social media, and Vice President Kamala Harris has used it in debates to try to portray former President Donald Trump as crazy.

“If you continue to criticize Trump over the 'eating cat' issue, you will face a backlash on November 5th,” Williamson said. On social media.
“Haitian Voodoo really does exist,” she added. “Failing to listen to the residents of Springfield, Ohio and quickly dismissing their story cements the stereotype of Democrats in the minds of many voters as vain, elite jerks who don't think they're smart enough to listen to anyone but their own psychopaths.”
Regardless of the pet-eating issue, residents are calling on local authorities to do something to mitigate the impact of a large influx of immigrants into the area.
“Let me be clear, this is not about race. This is about people being given the privilege of coming here from another country and not respecting our people, our land and our life's work. People are living here the same way they lived in Haiti,” one resident told the Springfield committee.
Anti-Trump critics and media figures say the pet-eating allegations are driven by racism and xenophobia.
