Marina Mabrey’s agent blasts Sun’s ‘mind-boggling’ trade request decision

Marina Mabry wants to be out.

And the sun says, “No, thank you.”

In Connecticut, things are getting ugly with one of the WNBA's best teams to reject veteran guard requests in the offseason, featuring massive departures from the franchise.

Mabrey's agent Marcus Crenshaw blamed the Sun for not staying silent.

“In this age of women's empowerment and player support, CT Sun is threatening to force Marina Mabry to play for them in such a way that trade demands become daunting.” Crenshaw told ESPN in a statement. “Why are you trying to force someone to play on a team when someone doesn't want to be there? That's counterproductive in many ways, and everyone we spoke to is a Hall of Fame. After trading caliber players, I'm confused about how they handle marinas

“The coaches have parted ways. The free agents aren't returned and they're doing everything they can to try and force Marina when they obviously don't want to be there. It's funny.”

The Sun appeared as the WNBA Buffalo bill, compiling eight straight playoff appearances and six consecutive semi-final verses.

This past season included Game 5 loss in the semi-finals to the Minnesota Links.

Instead of trying to run it, the sun is experiencing a massive overhaul.

Head coach Stephanie White joined the Caitlyn Clark-led heat, with Alyssa Thomas, Dewana Bonner, Breonna Jones, Dihony Carrington and Ty Harris all gone.

According to ESPN, the first WNBA or NBA team since 1970-71 is the first WNBA team to lose all five starters from the last playoff game of the previous season.

Mabry joined the team last year through air trades, averaging 14.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Sun sent the first round pick, two players and a pix swap to Chicago, landing the former Notre Dame star, and Sun's President Jennifer Rizzotti told ESPN he “give up” to land Mabrie. About her factors into the decision the organization said is currently in place.

“The reason we have because we don't trade marinas is rooted in positivity,” Rizzotti told the outlet. “It's rooted in a desire to build around her and put her here and make her a catalyst for what she wants to do aggressively. Her game is now that this current CBA closes and something new opens. As we know we can put her in an individual situation.”

The Sun has added players like Tina Charles this offseason, but they may struggle to make it for the seventh year in a row in a row in the semi-finals after such earthquake changes.

“I think there are probably a lot of professional athletes on the team, but I don't necessarily like to participate,” Rizzotti told ESPN. “I don't think this will be an isolated situation. …I think the Marina is just as competitive as they come. That's one of the reasons we wanted her here…it's also , it might be seen as counterproductive for us to succumb to all trade requests, right? So I think sometimes you're put in a situation where you don't win, and we have many different components I think we're trying to be as fair as possible.”
