Mario Lopez admits there are challenges working with ‘wildly talented’ wife

As the saying goes, behind every great man is an even greater woman.

Mario Lopez and his wife Courtney Lopez proved that when they co-starred in Great American Family's first holiday film, Once Upon a Christmas Wish.

However, working with a spouse isn't always easy, and Mario admitted there are some challenges.

“I think the biggest challenge is still having to juggle the balance between my husband and my co-workers,” Mario told FOX News Digital.

“Sometimes you have to be careful about the tone in which you communicate certain things, because…you may be telling them as an actress, but she's still listening as a wife…That was a challenge. ”

No matter what situation the couple is facing, Mario continues to collaborate with his wife on several projects, including a radio show and occasional co-hosting of Access Daily, and is always able to “do well.” I'll do it,” he said.

“She's so smart and talented and it's so much fun,” Mario enthused.

He spoke of the “incredible hours” he had working on the first Great American Family Christmas movie with his wife and son Dominic.

“I thought what better way to start this relationship than with a project with an actual family and a very talented wife,” he continued.

“We met on Broadway. We got to show off all of her skills… We sang and danced… We felt the romance. Son Dominic did a great job and I was really impressed. And there was a lot of heart that went into this movie.''I'm really happy with the result. ”

The “Access Hollywood” host met his wife, Courtney, in 2008 when they co-starred in the Broadway musical “A Chorus Line.”

In the heartwarming holiday movie, Mario plays Mayor Brian Ortega, who discovers his childhood Christmas wish list. Returning to town for Christmas is Brian's childhood friend Nina Meyers, played by Courtney. The two develop a romantic relationship during the holiday season.

In real life, the actor duo has been together for the past 15 years and recently celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary.

Hollywood marriages often don't last long, but the Saved by the Bell star shared her secret to a successful relationship.

“She's the quarterback of the team…I just let her call the plays and listen accordingly,” Mario joked.

“We respect each other and I understand that her schedule is a little crazy and I support her… We're all thinking about the kids. I… I'm very happy with my life right now. I feel very blessed and lucky.”

One of the couple's three children, 11-year-old Dominic, also appears in Once Upon a Christmas Wish.

Although Dominic has guest-starred in other productions, Mario explained that this is his first film.

“He was very well prepared and I didn't have to give him too many notes. … He really liked it and he was a natural. I'm very proud,” Mario told FOX News Digital.

“As a father, I want to brag a little bit, but during the filming of this movie, he also competed in a wrestling tournament and a jiu-jitsu tournament in Chicago… and won both.”

Mario and Courtney tied the knot in 2012 in Punta Mita, Mexico. The couple have three children: Gia, Dominic, and Santino.

The Hollywood actor joins a talent list for the first-ever Great American Family Christmas Festival, including “Full House” star Candace Cameron Bure and “Wonder Years” star Danica McKellar. Bure will become chief creative officer of Great American Family Channel in 2022.

She detailed why the company decided to create this holiday experience.

“We've been dreaming of this for years and wanted to create an environment where you could bring the whole family and experience Christmas, just like in one of our movies,” Bres said. he previously told FOX News Digital.

Dubbed the “Queen of Christmas Movies,'' Bure has appeared in “Home Sweet Christmas,'' “A Christmas Less Traveled,'' starring Eric Johnson, and “Let It Snow,'' starring Jesse Hatch.

McKellar writes for Great American Family Media and has appeared in films such as “Cinderella's Christmas Ball.''

During the holiday event, festival attendees can take photos with Santa, go ice skating, and enjoy delicious food and games.

The Great American Family Christmas Festival will be held at Northwell Park at USB Arena in New York and will run through December 24th.
