Mariska Hargitay Teases Jalen Brunson’s SVU Appearance

During a recent segment on the “Today” show, actress Mariska Hargitay, who is well-known for her role in “Law & Order: SVU” and her passion for the New York Knicks, hinted that fans can expect to see NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson joining her on the show. She playfully urged Savannah Guthrie to keep it a secret, saying, “Don’t tell anyone else except to see him on ‘SVU.’ We have some things in the works.”

Hargitay, who admitted to sharing several “secrets” with Guthrie, had the latter suspecting that something exciting was definitely brewing.

Brunson had mentioned that, following the Knicks’ championship win—marking their first title since 1973—one of his off-season plans included a guest appearance on “SVU.” His colleague, Christopher Meloni, expressed full support, remarking that as a world champion, Brunson could pursue whatever he wanted.

The connection between Brunson and Hargitay has blossomed over the years, showcasing a genuine friendship. Hargitay, at 62, is an avid Knicks supporter, often seen courtside at Madison Square Garden. Recently, she shared a heartfelt moment with Brunson after their dramatic comeback victory in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, embracing him and expressing her joy with, “I love you so much and I’m so happy!”

She also sprinted to hug Brunson’s father, Rick, who previously served as an assistant coach and was part of the 1999 Knicks Finals team. Hargitay and her son, August, took part in Brunson’s parade float during the celebratory events in lower Manhattan.

Reciprocating the support, Brunson attended Hargitay’s Broadway performance of “Every Brilliant Thing” in June, bringing his wife, Ali, along. The camaraderie between the two has sparked envy even among other Knicks fans, as noted by fellow actor Ben Stiller, who remarked on the special affection Hargitay receives post-game.

In an earlier appearance on “Today,” Hargitay admitted that Brunson serves as her “inspiration,” highlighting the genuine admiration between the two. Overall, their bond continues to capture attention and add to the excitement surrounding the upcoming season of “Law & Order: SVU.”
