Marjorie Taylor Greene backs challenger to Freedom Caucus chair as 2024 stirs House GOP civil war

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Monday endorsed her primary challenger to House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R-Va.) This led to further distancing from conservative groups.

“John McGuire is a Navy SEAL who has been by President Donald J. Trump's side since he came down the escalator,” Greene wrote to X.

“Bob Good is an angry, dishonest MAGA traitor who was caught on camera bashing President Trump and doing everything in his power to bring him down. Bob Good is no good and cannot be trusted. ”

Greene's endorsement comes a day after Goode endorsed Trump for president, but he has faced criticism from MAGA circles for not following in the footsteps of previous presidents.

Greene was expelled from the Freedom Caucus in the middle of last year after a majority of members opposed her, following disagreements over the election of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in January last year.

She has since criticized the group and some of its members, telling reporters in September, “I am no longer a member of the burnout rally.”

Good was one of eight House Republicans who voted to fire McCarthy in October. Mr. Greene was one of the former leader's allies.

His main challenger is Virginia Sen. John McGuire, who was just sworn into office earlier this month. Prior to that, Mr. McGuire served as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 2019 to early 2024.

Fox News Digital reached out to Goode's campaign for comment about Greene's endorsement, but did not receive a response.
