The move by Rep. Greene (R-Ga.) came after the House was preparing to pass a partial government spending bill to avert a government shutdown.

MTG also teased the possibility of calling for a vote in a podcast interview hosted by Steve Bannon earlier Friday, saying, “We’ll see what happens.”

“I don’t think the American people and Republican voters across the country want a Democrat to replace them as Republican chairmen,” Greene told reporters outside the Capitol. “This is not exactly what people want.”

Several House Republicans were furious with Mr. Johnson, who killed the 1,012-page bill early Thursday morning, less than 48 hours before the March 22 partial government shutdown.n.d..

The request to remove Johnson (R-Louisiana) comes less than five months after House Republicans fired then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) for passing an earlier federal funding bill. It was held on. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) and eight other Republicans joined all House Democrats in voting to remove McCarthy from office on October 3.rd The former speaker then resigned from parliament two months later.
