Marjorie Taylor Greene: ‘I’m Not Bringing Chaos — I’m Forcing Change’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) appeared on FOX News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures” this week to discuss House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-Louisiana) speakership. defended a motion to quash the challenge.

The Georgia Republican said her effort was not to cause “disruption” but to force change.

BARTIROMO: Well, I know you have a slim majority.

And you’re probably raising the wrecking ball right now. People within your own party are attacking you for this. Could you please explain this movement?

GREENE: Yes, of course, Maria.

Just as we heard Eric Trump talk about his father, Donald Trump, never backing down from attacks from Democrats, Republican voters across the country expect the exact same thing from Republicans in the House. Razor-thin majority.

But this week, Speaker Johnson, who has only been in office for just six months, led us into complete disaster. He broke the 72-hour rule this Friday after giving Republicans only one day to read 1,012 pages and not allowing them to pass amendments to make changes to the bill. The second bill, a gigantic omnibus bill, was passed. Chuck Schumer filled the Democratic Party’s wish list with a continuation of Biden’s disastrous border policies.

This happened after the tragic death of Laken Riley. This comes after Americans continued to watch videos showing military-age men and illegal aliens crossing the Texas border and running over Texas National Guard and Border Patrol agents.

Americans are tired of failures in the House of Representatives. We are barely hanging on as a republic with over $34 trillion in debt. And we will follow Chuck Schumer’s orders, give him the gavel, let him pass the House Schumer bill on the floor, and put a Republican Speaker of the House who will not allow any of us Republicans to carry out our policies. I can not do it. work.

BARTIROMO: Well, why are we having so much trouble securing our borders?

Consider some of the things in this bill that are related to border security and some of the things that you think are inappropriate in this bill.

GREENE: There’s nothing in this bill that secures the border.

This bill, passed by Johnson, does everything in its power to continue the Biden administration’s horrifying, deadly daily invasion of the border. House Republicans passed amazing border security bills like HR2 and the Laken-Riley Act.

For Johnson, the only chance to truly secure the border is through the power of the wallet. And that’s what’s in this funding bill. If Chairman Johnson truly wants to secure our borders, as he promised all of us and promised the American people, then he must tell Chuck Schumer that no government funding bill will be passed until we pass a border, border bill, and funding bill. I would have told them that it would not pass. HR2, the Laken-Riley Act, or at least some measures therein.

But he didn’t. He completely failed at that. And because Speaker Johnson forced the Republicans to pass this bill, he got Chuck Schumer to pass this bill in the House.

BARTIROMO: But — but people…

GREENE: This bill not only does nothing for the border, Maria.

Bartiromo: Yes.

GREENE: Funded full-term abortion clinics. Funded horrific trans-awakening policies targeting children in this country.

This was not a Republican bill. This was a Democratic bill.

BARTIROMO: Yes, but even people in your own party are attacking you, saying we don’t need more division.

I mean, at the end of the day, Congressman, Ken Buck resigned, Mike Gallagher resigned, look at how many people left. And Mike Gallagher resigning comes at a time when things are going to get even tougher for the Republican Party, right? He’s leaving early, right?

GREENE: That’s right, Maria.

And it’s the people who resign early and leave that are at risk for the Democratic majority, not me. I have filed a motion to evict, but have not called it to the floor. This is like issuing a pink slip to notify the conference that they need to find a new speaker.

This may take several weeks. It may take several months. It may not happen until the next Congress, but Speaker Johnson cannot remain Speaker of the House. Speaker Johnson has also allowed Mike Gallagher to leave Parliament after the deadline, leaving us short of a majority. That deadline does not allow his district to hold a special election to elect new representatives for the rest of Congress.

Mike Gallagher has betrayed us all. And as those responsible to our majority, Speaker Johnson praised Mike Gallagher on Friday after he announced his resignation, calling him great and congratulating him on his role in Congress. I was grateful for his accomplishments.

Speaker Johnson should force Mike Gallagher to step down early so he can hold a special election in his district. And a strong Republican speaker of the House would expel the member who put the razor-thin majority in such a delicate and delicate situation. we cannot allow this.

BARTIROMO: So what you’re saying is that he’s going to leave, and on the day he chooses to leave, he’s going to leave that part of Wisconsin without representation. There can be no special elections. That means they don’t have the right to vote.

Are you concerned that this action you’re taking will harm the 2024 election? Will this actually harm your candidate, President Trump?

Green: Not at all.

President Trump’s overwhelming victory in this election, following polls, is because he is a fighter and a defender of the American people. I argue that if we didn’t have President Trump on the ballot, the House would lose its majority. President Trump intends to drag all Republicans to victory, whether they deserve it or not.

Bartiromo: Okay.

GREENE: And I can tell you right now, Republicans are tired of it.

Republican voters want a fighter in the House…

Bartiromo: Yes.

GREENE: …Fight like President Trump. And that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Bartiromo: Okay.

Green: Force change. I don’t mean to cause confusion. It’s forcing change.

BARTIROMO: Right away, Congressman. I have to go.

But right off the bat, what you’re telling me this morning is that this is a pink slip. We may not be able to bring it to the floor when we come back from Easter break to oust Mike Johnson, but we want to send a message that we will no longer accept no security at the border.

is that what you’re saying?

GREENE: That’s what I’m saying.

That’s my meeting promise. Please continue your investigation. Please continue your committee activities. Let’s do the good work we’re doing. I haven’t set a deadline, but that doesn’t mean I won’t call it to the floor and force a vote.
