Marjorie Taylor Greene set to join 'The View' during conservative criticism

“The View” Invites Marjorie Taylor Greene Amid Conservative Criticism

ABC’s “The View” has announced that Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene will be guest hosting, which has drawn mixed reactions from conservatives who argue that the show has leaned heavily liberal. A study by NewsBusters found that from January to July, the show featured 102 left-leaning guests and, remarkably, not a single conservative.

Greene expressed her enthusiasm for the appearance on X, stating, “Looking forward to joining the ladies on ‘The View’ on Tuesday!” This announcement excited many conservatives eager for a divergent viewpoint to challenge the liberal hosts.

One user commented, “Oh, this is going to make money,” while another likened Greene’s entrance to “dropping a grenade into a chicken coop.”

The liberal co-hosts, after having actress Cheryl Hines guest-host the previous week, voiced a desire to include more politically diverse guests. Joy Behar, in particular, admitted to being “terrified” about the prospect of some Republicans appearing, stating, “They’re afraid of us,” when discussing why more conservatives don’t want to join the show.

Conservatives quickly responded, posting evidence on social media of their unsuccessful attempts to be featured. Emails obtained revealed that “The View” bookers had dismissed offers from various conservative figures, including Riley Gaines from Outkick, Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, and New York Post columnist Karol Markowitz. Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer also mentioned that when her agent tried to pitch her for a Veterans Day appearance, the response was that there was no space.

Gaines tweeted earlier this month, countering Behar’s claim that Republicans shun her show: “When they asked me to be on it, they said no.” Additionally, Sen. Ted Cruz noted on a recent book tour that he wished to join “The View” but was denied, echoing Gaines’ frustrations.

Despite occasional conservative guests over the years—like Cruz, Caitlyn Jenner, and Donald Trump Jr.—critics argue that the majority of the platform supports liberal ideologies. The lone conservative co-host, Alyssa Farrah Griffin, tends to dissent from the typical viewpoints held by her colleagues, all of whom have thrown their support behind Kamala Harris for the upcoming presidential election.

Attempts to get a comment from ABC have yet to receive a response. It will be interesting to see how Greene’s appearance unfolds and whether it paves the way for further conservative voices in the future.
