Republican strategist Mark Bednar remarked that while Republicans have a chance to maintain control of the House in 2026, it’s crucial for conservatives not to become complacent following significant redistricting. He described a recent decision in Virginia as a “big win for Republicans,” criticizing the Democrats’ redistricting efforts as a “poor strategy.” However, he also cautioned that many maintained districts still include swing seats, meaning there’s work to be done.
“We can’t stop here,” Bednar emphasized. “You have to keep your foot on the pedal.”
Matt Boyle, Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief, expressed that the House is no longer a definite win for Democrats. He referred to the race as a “jump ball” and suggested that Republicans could hold their majority with dedication.
Bednar agreed, noting that the Trump administration is stepping up its messaging. He referenced cabinet members such as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy as key figures pushing the administration’s agenda.
He also praised former President Donald Trump for assembling a prominent team to promote his ideals, inspiring candidates and incumbents alike. “So, Matt, I completely agree that momentum is on our side,” he reiterated.
Additionally, Bednar pointed to an article about former President Barack Obama that highlights a “significant void” in the Democratic Party, suggesting their strongest representative has been in office for less than a decade. “They don’t have a leader,” he pointed out, asserting that the Democrats’ policy agenda is lacking, while Republicans are thriving on messages about low taxes, economic growth, and border security.
The conversation also touched on President Trump’s upcoming visit to China. Bednar stated that Americans should feel “very proud” of Trump’s focus on China and his efforts in that regard.
“He might not, and I don’t know what kind of agreement we’ll get,” he admitted but framed the attention given to China as a significant advancement.
Bednar concluded that Trump’s policies resonate globally because they “empower people” and contribute to a stronger nation and stabilized economy.
