Mark Cuban blasts Mavericks for Luka Doncic trade return

Mark Cuban previously said it had nothing to do with the shocking trade of Mavericks Luka Donsic.

Now, the former Dallas majority owner says the team should get a better return from the Lakers with a late-night blockbuster in February.

In a three-team deal that shocked the NBA world, the Mavericks landed Anthony Davis, Max Christie and 2029's first round pick.

The Cuban, who still holds minority stakes after selling 73% to the Adelson family, reportedly urged the Mavericks to stick to Don Sic, but trade had already been verbally agreed.

In an interview with WFAA on Thursday nightCuban said the Mavericks should get more with any donick.

“If Mavs trade Luka, that's one thing,” Cuba told the outlet. “Make a better deal. I still firmly believe that if we get the four unprotected number ones, Anthony Davis and Max Christie, this will be another conversation.”

Cuban added that even a decline in ownership isn't a great time as a part of the team.

“Yeah, there's clearly some parts that aren't fun,” Cuba said. “Especially this month or last month. But they paid that right.”

More than the Mavericks' final months have been painful for the franchise to say the least.

Fans have protested general manager Nico Harrison both inside and outside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, with Anthony Davis injured in his first match against MAVS, and more recently Kyrie Irving has shed tears of the season-ending ACL.

Cuba added that he has no much regret about selling his majority stake – especially if his child was in a similar position to his current ownership.

“I don't want the kids to get to this exact position on a certain level if they make a mistake,” Cuba added. “Imagine if I didn't do it [sell]and my kids are taking over and they made these mistakes. ”

Dallas (32-31) has won three consecutive games and is currently 10th in the West.
