Most Americans are quite embarrassed by the Democrats’ defense of Salvadoran national Kilmer Abrego Garcia. As more information comes to light, it’s increasingly troubling to see Democrats use this case to push their anti-immigration enforcement stance.
We recently learned that Jennifer Vasquez Sula, Abrego Garcia’s current wife, filed for a protection order against him in 2020. She revealed that he had told his former stepmother something alarming—basically, that if he harmed her, no one would be able to touch him. The details in her request are both shocking and heartbreaking.
In 2021, she sought a temporary protection order based on domestic violence. By 2022, Abrego Garcia was detained by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, but reportedly, that was only for the executives involved. It was discovered that eight individuals were found in his vehicle, and one official noted he was likely transporting them for money. Abrego Garcia claimed the car belonged to his “boss.” Those undocumented individuals had been previously charged with human smuggling.
Despite Abrego Garcia’s troubling history, Democrats have managed to turn this incident into a prolonged saga. In 2019, a federal judge ordered his removal from the U.S., returning him to El Salvador earlier this year. However, the judge also indicated he couldn’t send him back due to potential threats from a gang known as Barrio 18, which raises some questions about Abrego Garcia’s affiliations—whether he has ties with the gang or their rivals.
Following a crackdown on gangs by El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, Barrio 18 is currently less active than before. In a submission to the Supreme Court, the Trump administration argued that Abrego Garcia’s potential links to MS-13 disqualified him for immigration status, which they viewed as a foreign terrorist organization.
Most rational public officials seem relieved that this man has been deported, though not Congressional Democrats. For instance, Rep. Maxine Dexter from Oregon claimed that Abrego Garcia was wrongfully accused, while Delia Ramirez criticized his removal as “illegal, unconstitutional, and inhumane.” California Rep. Robert Garcia noted support for his return to the U.S., and former Democrat Glenn Evie expressed plans to travel to El Salvador to advocate for him.
One can’t help but wonder why Democrats are working to bring a violent non-citizen back to the U.S. It seems to hint at a desire for media attention and to galvanize certain bases. After Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen visited with taxpayer money, other House Democrats began to seek similar publicity.
These Congress members appear focused on providing assistance to illegal aliens and potential gang members, which is quite concerning when funded by taxpayers. GOP Chair Mark Green has publicly challenged Democrats to take such initiatives using their own resources.
It’s clear that many Americans are not in favor of gang members freely roaming their neighborhoods, nor do they want hard-earned tax dollars mismanaged by representatives seeking social media approval. The central issue appears to be that Democrats resist enforcing the laws and, perhaps more fundamentally, they oppose any serious immigration enforcement for ideological reasons.
So, if they disagree with the law enforcement they claim to oppose, one has to question why they want to be in Congress in the first place. Ultimately, they don’t seem to be upset about Abrego Garcia’s removal to El Salvador but rather the act of removing him. This highlights the need to support President Trump’s security and enforcement policies to ensure such actions are upheld.
