Fox Sports swiftly sought a substitute for Mark Sanchez to cover Sunday’s game after the former Jets quarterback was stabbed and subsequently arrested in Indianapolis.
Brady Quinn, who has been part of Fox’s college football commentary since 2019, stepped in for Sanchez during the Colts and Raiders matchup, according to reports.
Quinn, now 40, played four seasons in the NFL as a quarterback before transitioning to broadcasting.
He’s mainly recognized for his role in Fox’s “Big Noon Kickoff,” but he also co-hosts a show called “Blitz” on Sirius XM Radio.
This change in personnel came after Sanchez was involved in a surprising incident at a bar in Indianapolis.
Authorities say Sanchez, 38, allegedly got into a violent altercation with a 69-year-old delivery driver, who claimed self-defense after stabbing Sanchez in the chest.
The confrontation reportedly began outside Loughmiller’s Pub & Eatery when Sanchez asked the driver to move his vehicle.
The driver informed police that Sanchez provoked the encounter and had urged onlookers to stab him after employing pepper spray, as per the reports.

After being hospitalized, police have noted that Sanchez faces charges including injury-related violations, unauthorized vehicle entry, and misdemeanor battery due to public intoxication.
Fox Sports expressed gratitude for the medical team’s excellent care, sharing, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark. We ask for privacy for him and his family during this time.”
Officials reported that the unidentified driver also sustained significant injuries in the altercation.
Sanchez was said to be uncooperative with police shortly after the incident, which occurred just after midnight, and he had to undergo surgery for his stab wound, with his condition later stabilizing.
