Mark Teixeira Offers Advice to Frustrated Democrats
Mark Teixeira, the former World Series champion, has some words for Democrats unhappy with Texas’ new congressional map. Recently signed by Republican Governor Greg Abbott, this map appears to favor Republican areas ahead of the upcoming 2026 midterms. Teixeira, who kicked off his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives, suggested that aggrieved Democrats should focus on crafting better policies.
“There are alternatives. It’s pretty clear that progressive policies haven’t been successful in various cities with Democratic mayors. It’s essential to analyze what’s happening in these cities and how those lessons apply to Washington, D.C.,” he stated.
He added, “It’s time for Texas Democrats—and all Democrats—to adopt a policy aimed at genuinely helping Americans. They often talk to us, but, well, Republicans have a clear agenda that prioritizes America first.”
Teixeira is seeking a position in Texas’ 21st Congressional District, following Rep. Chip Roy’s decision to step down in favor of running for Texas Attorney General. With a straightforward policy approach, he believes that securing borders, lowering taxes, minimizing government intervention, and fostering economic growth are paramount. “These conservative values resonate with American families, and that’s the perspective I bring to the campaign,” he said.
He described the 21st District as filled with patriots who cherish their faith, their country, and Texas, expressing eagerness to engage with constituents about his beliefs.
Teixeira, who enjoyed a successful career with several major league teams, first made his mark with the Texas Rangers before moving on to the Atlanta Braves and later joining the New York Yankees. Notably, he was part of the 2009 Yankees team that clinched the World Series title against the Philadelphia Phillies and finished his career with impressive statistics, including 409 home runs and 1,298 RBIs.
