Mark Teixeira Critiques Political Discourse
Former World Series champion Mark Teixeira recently expressed his inability to engage with people who assert that men can become pregnant. He highlighted the increasing political divide in the U.S., suggesting that these conversations have shifted too far left for him to follow.
Teixeira, who launched a campaign for a House of Representatives seat last week, shared that while he has had discussions with Democrats regarding issues like tax rates and national security, the topic of men becoming pregnant never came up. “I can discuss tax rates, national security, or anything to improve our country,” he stated. “But when you say a man can get pregnant, where does that conversation even go?” He made these comments while appearing on a show hosted by Dan Dakich.
Describing the political landscape, Teixeira pointed out that while conservatives haven’t drastically shifted, Democrats have seemingly moved far to the left. He believes this creates a significant gap in dialogue. “If that’s what you genuinely believe, I can’t converse with you,” Teixeira said. He noted, “Many on the left are off the map, creating this huge divide.”
Teixeira also mentioned why he entered the political arena. He emphasized the importance of addressing real issues for ordinary people, such as job availability, lower taxes, and safe communities. He expressed a belief that Americans are capable and want a government that serves them, rather than controls them.
This three-time All-Star is running for Texas’ 21st Congressional District, a decision prompted by Rep. Chip Roy’s choice to pursue a run for Texas Attorney General. Teixeira, who played for various teams during his career, including the New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, and Los Angeles Angels, wrapped up his playing days with a commendable record—batting .268 with 409 home runs and 1,298 RBIs, and being a vital contributor to the Yankees’ 2009 World Series championship.
