Mark Wahlberg Talks Faith During ‘Pray40’ Lenten Challenge
Actor Mark Wahlberg recently discussed his spiritual journey while collaborating with Hallow for the ‘Pray40′ Lenten challenge. Lent, a significant period for many Christians, is a time for reflection and repentance, marking Jesus’ sacrifice leading up to Easter Sunday. The initiative aims to guide individuals “on their journey back to the Lord” by providing prayers, Bible stories, and sacred music.
For Wahlberg, Lent symbolizes a time to give up certain things and deepen his relationship with God. He emphasizes “spreading the word” and reflecting on personal stories throughout this period.
Faith Challenge Among Cultural Noise
“There’s a lot you can do without it,” Wahlberg shared with Fox News. “Most of the time, I feel like throwing my phone out the window. It’s overwhelming sometimes. I try to focus on doing more and being better. I always encourage folks to eat well and exercise—it really does make a difference.” He also highlighted how discipline is crucial in his life.
Daily Rituals and Responsibilities
Wahlberg mentioned that his day starts with prayer, expressing gratitude and seeking guidance. “I ask for strength to use the talents God has given me for a purpose, trying not to get caught up in worldly distractions. There are many responsibilities on my plate,” he explained.
Reflecting on his past, Wahlberg noted that many “important people” have influenced him during crucial moments in his life, guiding him towards God. He recalled a significant time when a priest spoke to him late at night, which left a lasting impact.
Hardships and Influences
He reflected on the challenges he faced growing up, mentioning exposure to drugs and violence. “Our parents were going through a divorce, focusing on providing for us, so we often felt alone,” he shared.
Wahlberg also expressed gratitude for the priest who influenced him at age 13, stating that he remains a significant figure in his life as he continues to share his faith publicly.
