Mark Zuckerberg’s Embrace Of Physical Violence Has Made Him A Better Man

For most of his life, Mark Zuckerberg was nerdy and pasty and nebbish: the classic computer geek who mostly spends his days and nights behind a glowing screen.

But, in recent years, Zuckerberg has changed quite a bit, and since embracing physical violence — i.e., mixed martial arts (MMA) — the Facebook founder has seemingly embraced libertarian ideas, all while becoming cooler. (He might have always been somewhat libertarian ideologically, he’s just more openly so.) He wears chains and necklaces and grows out his hair so he no longer looks like a cyborg dork. He maintains an intense training program in jiu-jitsu and MMA and has even suffered some gnarly wounds during sparring sessions.

Zuckerberg has also grown increasingly hostile to government regulation and woke policies, according to a New York Times report published in September. In August of 2024, he expressed regret for allowing the Biden-Harris administration to pressure Facebook to censor content during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s as if he’s returning to his roots, when he was an ambitious and idealistic Harvard student who genuinely wanted to create a place for free speech, a place to connect with others around the globe.

He also had a fantastic response to the first assassination attempt on President-elect Donald Trump in July, calling the then-candidate’s iconic fist pump “badass.”

“Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life,” Zuckerberg told The New York Times. “On some level as an American, it’s like hard to not get kind of emotional about that spirit and that fight, and I think that that’s why a lot of people like the guy.”

This week alone, Zuckerberg brought on UFC founder Dana White, a staunch conservative, free speech advocate and Trump supporter, to Meta’s board of directors, and announced a major shift in Facebook’s fact-checking and censorship policies. “Government and legacy media have pushed to censor more and more” and “a lot of this is clearly political,” Zuckerberg said. “Fact checkers have just been too politically biased, and have destroyed more trust than they created, especially in the U.S.”

Trump’s election victory, Zuckerberg said, “feels like a cultural tipping point towards once again prioritizing free speech.” He then pledged that Meta will “get rid of fact checkers, and replace them with Community Notes, similar to X.”

The CEO also announced that the content moderation team would move from Silicon Valley to Texas, a change that could prove to be massively beneficial for the platform but detrimental to local Texans who, in all likelihood, do not want left-wing California politics in their backyard. In some cities there, it might already be too late. But maybe Zuckerberg will just bring jobs and the economic benefits that usually come from such a massive move from such a massive company.

Whether the new policies land a blow against the censorship zealots residing in other Big Tech companies, corporations, and the federal government, one thing is for certain: since Zuckerberg embraced physical violence, he has become a better man. Having escaped the liberal plantation, he no longer needs or wants to pander to liberal elites or parrot their social justice talking points.
