Markwayne Mullin and Tom Homan Pledge Increased Deportations and Reduced Street Issues

Members of President Trump’s Cabinet have committed to increasing deportations in the coming year, primarily by implementing low-profile strategies to combat negative media coverage surrounding ICE.

“I wanted to ensure that the DHS—Department of Homeland Security—stays out of the headlines,” said Mark Wayne Mullin, the newly appointed Secretary of Homeland Security. He emphasized that agents from DHS and other law enforcement will be able to perform their duties without interference from the press, as he shared with Newsmax on Tuesday.

He added:

“This doesn’t mean we’re less aggressive. In fact, just yesterday, we arrested over 1,900 individuals. Currently, more than 60,000 people are in custody facing deportation. Last week alone, we deported upwards of 2,700.”

“This isn’t about reducing enforcement; it’s about smarter enforcement,” commented Border Patrol Agent Tom Homan. Camilo Montoya Gálvez, a pro-immigrant reporter, attempted to challenge Homan regarding deportations of nonviolent immigrants.

Journalists didn’t inquire about policies aimed at reducing the influx of legal white-collar H-1B immigrants into American middle-class jobs at major corporations.

The announcement of increased deportations follows significant governmental changes amid considerable pushback from established political entities, just ahead of the pivotal midterm elections in 2026.

This commitment might ease concerns from pro-American groups worried that corporate interests could stall the President’s promise of mass deportations.

Since January, deportations have plateaued at around 1,200 daily, totaling approximately 440,000 for the year, as noted by analyst Austin Kocher. Additionally, many immigrants are either leaving quietly or going through arrests.

“I truly appreciate what the Trump administration has undertaken in Phase 1 of the deportation efforts,” remarked Rosemary Jenks, founder of the Mass Deportation Campaign, in early April.

“But the first phase was concentrated on criminal offenders—what some term ‘the worst of the worst.’ Now, we need to transition to phase two,” she stated.

The group has drafted a plan aimed at enabling lawmakers to discreetly use legal channels to quickly detain and deport millions of immigrants perceived as impacting American wages, increasing rental costs, and hindering key workplace automation, according to Jenks.

“We’re acknowledging the efforts of the Trump administration; they have been doing well in this arena. We’re simply offering suggestions for enhancement.”

In recent months, the administration has taken various measures to eliminate many logistical and legal barriers imposed by elites that were hampering deportations following Trump’s victory in the upcoming 2024 election.

The staunch opposition to Trump’s directives is backed by affluent progressives, organized immigration attorneys, judges appointed by Democrats, and Wall Street lobbyists.

Support also comes from several corporate-favored lawmakers, including 20 Republicans allied with Rep. Maria Salazar’s initiatives on wage reductions, rent hikes, revenue growth, government expansion, and low-wage labor legislation.

President Biden is expected to permit about ten million “unacceptable” illegal immigrants, potentially swelling the illegal population to nearly 20 million. This surge has resulted in about 6,200 illegal immigrants entering daily, benefiting investors with additional labor, renters, and consumers while aiding the Democratic Party’s urban support base.

Alongside Biden’s influx, millions of legalized immigrants and visa worker immigrants, including H-1B workers, have also contributed to the shift of numerous white-collar jobs abroad.

When considering all immigration streams, it appears there has been nearly one new immigrant for every American born during Biden’s tenure. This period has seen wages stagnate, inflation rise sharply, housing costs increase, and many Americans displaced from job opportunities.

Trump’s representatives assert that they believe this new, discreet approach will lead to a rise in deportations.

“So far, nothing alarming has emerged,” Homan reportedly mentioned at a law enforcement event in Phoenix, Arizona. “This year is shaping up well; we anticipate many deportations ahead.”

While focusing on criminals, deportations will also target all undocumented immigrants, he stated. “Duration of stay doesn’t matter. If you’re here illegally, you’ve cheated the system,” he remarked at a police gathering.

“There’s certainly an affirmative outlook. We aren’t slowing down at all,” Mullin reiterated.
