Miami Marlins outfielder Dane Myers’ ejection from Saturday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds cost him more than a few innings of suspension.
Myers said he broke his left ankle in the process after kicking the clubhouse door after being ejected from a game following an argument with an umpire over a called strike.

“It’s hard, but it’s what you have to do as a professional,” he said Sunday, via Bally Sports Florida. “I think that’s the last piece that’s missing in my game: staying calm, staying cool and not letting my emotions get the better of me.”
It has been a very difficult season for the Marlins since the team made the playoffs in 2023.
Miami won 3-2 against Cincinnati on Sunday, but the team is 33-63 at the All-Star break.

Myers is in his second season with the Marlins. He played in 40 games this season and batted .265 with a .759 OPS and two home runs. Last season, he played in 22 games and batted .269 with a .644 OPS and one home run.
“He’s going to be out for a while,” Marlins manager Skip Shoemaker said. Via MLB.com“Broken bones are never easy. It’s tough for him. The Jazz play a lot of infield, so there are a lot of opportunities.” [Myers] I was expecting more playing time.”
