On Saturday night, the Marshall Thundering Herd maintained their lead over Georgia Southern in the Sun Belt Conference East with a close 42-35 win over the Old Dominion Monarchs.
After the game, the conversation about the decisive victory quickly changed when an ESPN broadcast captured one Thundering Herd player scuffling with a staff member in the end zone.

After the game, defensive back Josh Moten was identified as the player involved in the incident with the ball boy. The ball boy appeared to try to knock the football out of Moten's hands as he ran off the field.
The ball boy was then seen getting into a shoving competition with another Marshall player.
Moten apologized after the game.

“I'm sorry about what happened after yesterday's game,” he wrote on Sunday's X. “That's not what I meant. It was an intense game and my emotions got the better of me at that moment. I feel bad for ODU and my team for taking attention away from a great game.”
Moten totaled five tackles in the game and intercepted a pass from Old Dominion quarterback Colton Joseph in the first quarter. It was Moten's fourth interception of the season.
The junior defensive back committed to Marshall in 2023 after a brief stint at Texas A&M.

Marshall has a total of 8 wins and 3 losses this season. They have won five straight since losing to Georgia Southern earlier this year. This loss is the only blot on their conference record.
