Reward Offered for Missing High School Coach
The U.S. Marshals are offering a $5,000 reward for information on the whereabouts of Travis Turner, a high school football coach wanted on charges related to child pornography.
Officials are encouraging anyone with information to contact 911, state police, or the U.S. Marshals Service tip line at 1-877-WANTED2 regarding the married father from Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
According to the family’s attorney, Adrian Collins, Turner was last seen on November 20, walking into the woods while carrying a firearm. Collins mentioned that the family is hoping for his safety and that he can defend himself legally.
Turner’s wife, Leslie Caudill, has removed her social media accounts since the warrant was issued for her husband’s arrest. He faces five counts of possession of child pornography along with five counts of soliciting a minor through a computer, with more charges possibly forthcoming.
As stated by VSP spokeswoman Robin Lawson, law enforcement is actively searching for Turner with assistance from both the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service.
Interestingly, Turner isn’t listed on Union High School’s staff page, yet he was coaching the football team to an undefeated season before he vanished. Authorities have noted that he might be armed, advising caution if encountered.
Initially, his disappearance was regarded as a standard missing person case, but last week, state police disclosed that they had secured an arrest warrant for the 46-year-old.
As Turner’s team continues to progress in the playoffs, they recently celebrated a 21-14 win against Ridgeview. They are set to face Glenvar High School in the upcoming Class 2 state semifinals on Saturday.
