Ali Larter’s Surprising Encounter with Martha Stewart

Ali Larter didn’t expect to see Martha Stewart as a fan, but a recent meeting took her by surprise.

During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Larter shared how she encountered Stewart while dining at the Polo Lounge in New York City. She described the scene, saying, “There’s this atmosphere, and I notice this woman across the room. She has this glow, and then, out of nowhere, Martha Stewart starts walking directly towards me.” It was, perhaps, a surreal moment for Larter who initially thought, “Oh my god, is that Martha?”

Stewart approached, wearing a striking white fur coat, and told Larter, “I wait until 12:01 every Sunday to watch your show.” Larter laughed and recalled Stewart also teased her daughter, Vivian, by saying, “Your mother is a bad person.”

Larter was, understandably, caught off guard. She mentioned, “Like everyone else, we were just so obsessed with this moment. Martha is like a queen—an iconic figure, really—and I’m a fan of Landman myself.”

In the Taylor Sheridan series, Larter plays Angela, the wife of Billy Bob Thornton’s character. The show is inspired by the podcast “Boomtown” and explores the oil boom in the Permian Basin that occurred in the early 2010s due to advancements in drilling technology. At its core is Thornton’s character, Tommy Norris, a crisis manager for an oil company called M-Tex.

Larter shared some behind-the-scenes anecdotes about filming in Texas. There were moments when production faced challenges, and she described a particularly chaotic day. “We have a big crew and the pressure is on,” she noted. “We’re racing against the clock to capture the perfect Texas sunset. I’m out there, barefoot, in a field, and suddenly feel something crawling on my foot. I looked down, and—oh no—a fire ant is biting me!”

Despite the pain, Larter decided to push through and finish the scene. “I felt emotional, but it was just the fire ant,” she recalled, chuckling. “I was worried they’d halt the shoot because of my discomfort.”
