Martin Short has revealed his relationship with Only Murders in the Building co-star Meryl Streep.
Short appeared on Sunday’s “Club Random with Bill Maher” and denied rumors that his relationship with Streep was more than friendly.
After the podcast host joked that they were a “power couple,” Short told Maher: “We’re not a couple. We’re just very close friends.”

In response to Short’s response, Maher joked, “There’s nothing more powerful in Hollywood than a power couple, so they should.”

Marr added, “It worked for Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, it worked for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.”
Short Streep’s dating rumors started after the two appeared to be more than just friendly at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.

Shortly after the awards ceremony earlier this month, Streep’s rep told People magazine that the two are “just very good friends and nothing more.”
Rumors of a relationship began after the outlet confirmed in October that Streep and her husband of 45 years, Don Gummer, had separated.

“Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than six years and, while they continue to care for each other, have chosen to live apart,” Streep’s rep told People at the time.

Meanwhile, Short hasn’t been romantically involved with anyone since his wife, Nancy Dolman, died of ovarian cancer in 2010. The couple married in 1980 and had three children: Catherine, 40, Oliver, 37, and Henry, 34.

Short spoke about marriage at AARP: The Magazine in 2019.
“It’s tough because our marriage was a victory,” he said. “She passed away in 2010, but I still communicate with her all the time. It’s, ‘Hi, Nan,’ and she’s very helpful with this decision and that, especially when it comes to our three children.” How would you react?”
