In an interesting twist, Marty O’Donnell, a Republican Congressional candidate and Grammy-nominated composer, revealed on Wednesday that he was uninvited from a reunion with fellow “Halo” creators. This happened after some controversial comments he made about political campaigns.

On Tuesday, O’Donnell shared a screenshot of an email that informed him about the disinvite from a reunion at a pop culture convention. The email stated, “SacAnime promoters have shared with us that our LGBTQ staff members will feel uncomfortable if you attend the event. Based on your recently reported comments regarding political campaigns, we have rescinded the invitation to avoid further upsetting staff members.”

Reacting to the news, O’Donnell expressed disappointment on Twitter, stating, “Very disappointed that SacAnime has rescinded our invitation to the Halo 25 reunion at next month’s conference. If you thought we broke cancel culture in 2024, think again!”

O’Donnell has a longstanding career in creating some of video gaming’s most iconic music. Recently, he shifted gears to run for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, with the backing of President Trump. He provided further commentary on the matter to FOX News Digital on Wednesday.

The veteran game composer, who has vocalized strong opinions against “woke” culture, highlighted how the recent decision reflects current political tensions. He recalled that in January, he had been excitedly anticipatory of the Halo Reunion at SacAnime, even receiving an invitation to promote his attendance shortly before the disinvite.

He shared that the cancellation was due to the political climate, emphasizing, “Last weekend, after SacAnime announced my attendance multiple times, I was told that I had been disinvited because I called Marxism an existential threat. They removed me from their website and all social media posts regarding my appearance.”

He added, “My comments on threats have been twisted by my political adversaries recently, and those familiar with the video would see that. This isn’t about my remarks; it’s about my identity as a Republican candidate.” He further asserted that this kind of silencing demonstrates a key aspect of Marxism, identifying it as a meaningful concern for the country.

“Perhaps we thought we had diffused cancel culture post-2024 elections, but it seems that was just the beginning,” O’Donnell warned. “Walk 2 is here, eager to suppress and attack conservatives just as Walk 1 did.”

He concluded by stating, “Unfortunately for them, they can’t silence me. I will continue to address the threats our nation faces, specifically from those espousing Marxism who wish to undermine America.”

The comments that ruffled feathers initially referred to the growing influence of Marxism and identity politics, illustrating how a coalition seems to be forming among groups that may not have much in common aside from shared opposition.

“Let’s discuss existential threats. This is what we’re facing right now,” he commented on a recent show. “We’re essentially teetering on the edge of an abyss—an abyss dominated by Marxism and anti-Western ideologies. Various groups, including the LGBTQ+ community and others, have united under a façade of shared oppression, but that’s misleading.”

He clarified, “Islam and communism are not compatible. They may temporarily align to challenge the West, but their partnership won’t last.”
