“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” actress Wendy Davis tragically passed away in a car accident on December 8th, at the age of 60.
Davis, who was known professionally as Wen Alton Davis, was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street at the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway in New York City around 9 p.m. that evening, according to officials.
The impact caused severe injuries to her head and body, and she was transported to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the 2023 Cadillac XT6, a 61-year-old man, remained at the scene of the incident. As of Wednesday, no charges had been filed against him as the investigation by the NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Unit continued.
Davis’s manager, Jamie Harris, shared that she had moved to New York in her twenties to pursue stand-up comedy, later transitioning into acting while also working at John F. Kennedy International Airport to make ends meet.
“She had a great love for New York, for acting, for her colleagues at JFK, and most importantly, for her family and friends,” Harris noted.
In addition to portraying a police officer in a 2023 episode of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” Davis’s other credits include roles in “Girls5eva,” “Blindspot,” “New Amsterdam,” and “The Normal Heart.”
Edward Reynoso, a neighbor of Davis, reflected on their last conversation, where she expressed gratitude and affection just hours before her death. “It felt like she was saying goodbye,” he said, adding that the whole situation felt surreal.
Davis’s talent and warmth will surely be missed by many, and her tragic passing serves as a stark reminder of life’s unpredictability.
