Maryland Governor Wes Moore (Democratic) predicted that black voters would solidify their support for President Biden, who is likely to face former President Trump in a rematch. Because President Biden has always supported it.
Moore, a member of the Biden-Harris 2024 National Advisory Council, joins MSNBC’s Al Sharpton from Atlanta, Georgia, where Biden will hold campaign events and mobilize voters of color. Announced support from three major political groups. Latino Victory Fund and his AAP Victory Fund.
“I think support for Black people will be strengthened around the president because support for the Black community is always a priority for the president.” Moore said. “The president has always put our interests first.”
Moore, currently the only Black governor in the country, said his state of Maryland has been influenced by the leadership team of Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. He pointed to the state’s low unemployment rate and the thousands of new jobs created “in partnership with the Biden-Harris Administration.”
“And I see that the black community is going to rally behind this president because this president has always rallied behind the black community,” he continued.
Support from the PAC is a huge benefit for Biden, with contributions to his campaign totaling $30 million.
The three minority-focused organizations are trying to mobilize communities of color ahead of this year’s elections. Minority voters contributed to Biden’s victory over Trump in 2020, and they will be important in November’s election, which is expected to be close.
Moore insisted that the Biden campaign’s hosting of an event in Atlanta after Thursday’s State of the Union address sends a message that “no one should misconstrue.”
“I think people are energized and excited, and I can see why because results matter,” he said.
