Guerrero was set to hit free agency following the conclusion of the 2025 season. The powerful baseman reportedly decided to stay with the franchise that signed him as an amateur free agent in 2015, despite interest from several teams in the market.
He will earn the third-largest contract overall, behind Juan Soto’s 15-year deal with the New York Mets and Shuhei Otani’s $700 million 10-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, as reported by the Associated Press.
The AP notes that the deal does not incorporate any deferred compensation.

Vladimir Guerrero, son of a Hall of Famer, made his debut in the majors during the 2019 season. He led the league in home runs in 2021 with 48, marking his first All-Star appearance.
Since then, Guerrero has been selected to the All-Star team each year.
In 2024, the first baseman achieved a batting average of .323 with a .940 OPS and 30 home runs. However, his performance in the postseason did not measure up to what Toronto required for a return to World Series contention.
Guerrero holds a 22-3 record in the postseason, with a batting average of .136 and no home runs.
As Toronto seems to be gearing up for a resurgence, they are aiming for a return to the World Series. The organization last won back-to-back titles in the 1992 and 1993 seasons.
