The Mastercard collection, as highlighted in a recent announcement, will be available starting July 16 through the company’s world, global elite, and newly launched world legendary Mastercard cards. These cards offer rewards related to food, entertainment, travel, and more.
Bunita Sawhney, Mastercard’s chief consumer product officer, expressed, “Spending time with those who matter most is incredibly valuable.” She added, “That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce our Mastercard collection, aiming to provide cardholders and their families access to unforgettable experiences, no matter where they are.”
The World Legend Cards are now accessible to banks globally, marking their debut for U.S. cardholders in the third quarter, with plans for a broader international rollout.
This launch is reportedly a response to internal research indicating a rising consumer demand for “more intentional ways of living.”
Many cardholders noted that investing time in their passions—be it culinary exploration, artistic pursuits, or cultural experiences—enhances their enjoyment of life.
Recent research by Pymnts Intelligence indicates that 40% of consumers use credit cards to cover travel expenses.
This suggests a strategic move towards larger spending. As Pymnts pointed out earlier this week in their “People Payment Methods” eBook, credit cards typically offer advantages like rewards and cost management.
Moreover, Pymnts highlighted last month the potential for financial institutions to benefit from credit card perks.
Consumers with entry-level cards may switch based on practical considerations like credit limits, while those with high-end cards show significant loyalty and engagement with the benefits offered.
According to the PYMNTS Intelligence Report, premium cardholders are over twice as likely to utilize card-related offers compared to those with basic cards.
Impressively, 74% of premium cardholders, as noted by Pymnts, actively engage with their card benefits.
