Wachowski Criticizes Musk and Rowling in Controversial Statements
Filmmaker Lilly Wachowski, known for her work in the transgender community, labeled SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and author J.K. Rowling as “literal Nazis” while making accusations against Harry Potter fans for allegedly “supporting trans genocide.”
In an interview with Variety, Wachowski stated, “These people are Nazis. They’re literal Nazis,” and reiterated a discredited claim that Musk had performed a Nazi salute, incorrectly saying, “He did a full-blown Sieg Heil on a national stage.”
This assertion regarding Musk’s supposed salute at a Trump event in Washington, D.C., during President Trump’s second inauguration, has been previously debunked.
Wachowski further expressed her concerns about the influence of Nazi propaganda in the U.S., suggesting that the global community should “firewall” the nation from its citizens due to the dangers it poses worldwide.
She went on to controversially accuse fans of the Harry Potter series of being complicit in transphobic actions, stating, “J.K. Rowling funds trans genocide, full stop. So, if you support Harry Potter, you’re supporting trans genocide.” Wachowski argued that money spent on Rowling’s work contributes to funding anti-trans legislation globally.
After receiving attention for her tweet “Fuck both of you” directed at Musk and Ivanka Trump regarding their discussion of “taking the red pill,” Wachowski remarked that conservatives misuse the film’s message for their own agendas. “I can’t sit in a room and explain the movie to every single person who watches it,” she reflected, mentioning that even engaging in discussion with figures like Musk and Trump wouldn’t change the way they interpret the film.
She labeled Musk and Trump as “fascists,” elaborating that such individuals exploit progressive messages for their own benefit, thereby complicating public understanding of their true ideological intentions.
Additionally, Wachowski praised director Christopher Nolan for casting trans actor Elliot Page in The Odyssey, calling it a prime example of allyship. She lamented the lack of similar actions from others in the industry and questioned why those with the power to cast trans actors weren’t doing more.
Finally, when asked about any upcoming projects, Wachowski mentioned working with actor Abigail Thorn on a project entitled “Billionaire Killers,” which is set in a post-apocalyptic environment where billionaires are holed up in bunkers and must find their way out.
