Training for Hollywood's elite in support of Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential bid continues next week with fundraisers featuring actor Matt Damon and Broadway musical creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The fundraiser will be held in New York on September 18th, with tickets selling for $25,000 each, the statement said. Bloomberg NewsDamon and Miranda will be in attendance, and the event will be co-hosted by Lin-Manuel's father, Luis A. Miranda Jr., chairman of Latino Victory.
“We all need to work together to make sure democracy continues to survive in this country,” Luis A. Miranda Jr. said.
Matt Damon's representatives have not yet released a statement on the matter.
Fresh from her first debate with former President Trump, Harris has a packed fundraising schedule through September, including appearances with Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and members of Congress.
“Harris' campaign said in late August that the vice president had raised $540 million since becoming the candidate in late July, during which time she led Trump in his fundraising lead over President Joe Biden,” Bloomberg News noted.
Matt Damon and Lin-Manuel Miranda's appearance at the Harris fundraiser came after pop star Taylor Swift formally endorsed Kamala Harris after the first debate.
“Like many of you, I watched tonight's debate, and if you haven't already, now is a great time to find out where the candidates stand on the issues at hand and the issues that matter most to you. As a voter, I make it a point to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country,” she said.
