Former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz, whose nomination for U.S. attorney general was derailed last month amid allegations of sexual misconduct and drug abuse, will have his own show on One America News Network. Ta.
The movement is Announced by OAN on tuesday morning Following CNN's reportmade the news Monday night.
According to OAN, “The Matt Gaetz Show” will begin every weekday in January at 9pm ET.
The right-wing network did not provide details about the format of the show.
“OAN is leading the way in media, encompassing the platforms Americans use, not just traditional news, but streaming, apps, podcasts, social media, and more,” Gates said in a statement. “I couldn’t be more excited to join OAN’s forward-thinking team and be a part of this revolutionary expansion.”
Gates also co-hosts a weekly podcast with Dan Ball, host of “Real America with Dan Ball,” which features “fresh perspectives and filters tailored to Millennials, late Gen Z, and early Gen X. The plan is to “deliver a conversation that is unique.”
Gaetz made headlines last month with his decision to withdraw his nomination for attorney general after it quickly became clear he would not have the support of skeptical Republican senators to be confirmed. .
That's partly due to a pending House ethics report investigating Gates' allegations of having sex with minors, using illegal drugs and accepting bribes.
Shortly after, the 42-year-old Republican announced he would not return to Congress next year.
“I'm still going to join the fight, but it's going to be from a new perch. I'm not going to be in the 119th Congress,” he told conservative activist Charlie Kirk in an interview last month. Ta.
“I think eight years is probably enough time in the U.S. Congress,” he said. “I'm going to be loud, but maybe not as a member of the government.”
Gaetz, who was elected to Congress in 2016, has denied the allegations investigated by the Justice Department and the committee, including allegations that he had sexual relations with a woman in 2017 when he was a minor.
Since leaving Congress last month, Gaetz has joined celebrity video messaging platform Cameo, where he sells personalized video messages.
“I served in Congress. Trump nominated me to be U.S. Attorney General (that didn't work out). I once fired the Speaker of the House,” Gates' cameo bio says, adding: It is referring to his role in the ouster of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy last year.
The addition of Gaetz, a leading voice on the Trump campaign, is a big win for the far-right network, which lacks a steady stream of high-profile anchors and commentators.
OAN has struggled to gain mainstream traction and suffered a fatal blow when it did. Will be discontinued by cable provider DirecTV in 2022.
Other major broadcast stations have been reluctant to air the pro-Trump network, and as a result, the network has urged viewers to stream the network online instead.
