Matt Gaetz says he will not serve in upcoming session of Congress

Former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz said on a podcast Friday that he will not serve in Congress next year, an issue that has been the subject of intense speculation in the hours since he withdrew his name from consideration as attorney general. It was settled.

Gaetz resigned last week during the 118th Congress, but it was unclear whether he would take office during the 119th Congress, which begins in January.

Gaetz was subject to a month-long investigation by the House Ethics Committee before he resigned, and suggestions that he might return to Congress sparked speculation from lawmakers.

“There are so many great Floridians who have come forward to run for my seat, people who have been an inspiration to me with their heroism and public service, and I truly believe that Northwest Florida is reaching new heights.” We're excited to see them reach and get great representation.'' “Gates.'' said Charlie Kirk said in an interview on his eponymous podcast.

He added: “I'm going to fight for President Trump, as I always have, and I'm going to do whatever he asks me to do. But I think eight years is probably enough for a term in the United States Congress.”
