Parents are being urged to check their children’s toy boxes after two popular products were recalled due to design flaws that could pose a “risk of serious injury or death from suffocation”.
Product Safety Australia (PSA) has announced a recall of Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figures owned by US toy company Mattel.
This toy is sold as part of the Fisher-Price Little People Mickey and Friends figure pack.
The recall notice was issued after the two toys were found not to comply with mandatory safety standards for infants up to 36 months of age.
Children can remove the heads of Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figures.
PSA said that if the head were to come off, it could pose a serious “risk of injury or death from suffocation.”
“Consumers should immediately stop using the Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figurines and keep them out of the reach of children,” the regulator said.
“To receive a refund, please return the affected figure to the point of purchase or contact Mattel Consumer Relations.”
The toy will be sold nationwide and online from June 7, 2023 to November 14, 2023, and has the model number HPJ88.
PSA confirmed that only the Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figures would be recalled.
The Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto figures that come with the set are not part of the recall and can be kept by customers.
The model number is located on the bottom of the Goofy figure.
